About Bharatanatyam

Bharatanatyam, it is a traditional Indian dance originating from Tamil Nadu. It is one of the oldest classical dance forms that seamlessly harmonizes mind, body, and soul. This traditional art is renowned for its grace, purity, and tenderness, elevating both the dancer and the observer to a heightened level of spiritual consciousness. The dancer is seen as a devotee of the divine, embodying beauty, charm, and grace.

The term "Bharatanatyam" is derived from two Sanskrit words: "Natyam," signifying a storytelling through dance, and "Bharata," which is a mnemonic encapsulating "Bha" bhava or emotions, "Ra" ragam or melody, and "Ta" talam or rhythm. Thus, Bharatanatyam signifies a dance form that expresses Bhava, Raga, and Tala.
